Can we raise $75-100k for the Humane Society of Hobart with the 2026 HSH pet calendar contest? Why the heck not, right?
Last year we grossed just under $12k, and we started from zero.
This year, we're starting from over 300 participants, 50-75 partnering businesses, HSH peeps, and all the people we've met in the year since hosting the first contest. Plus, we have a better idea of what we're doing (last year we didn't at all).
On top of that, if you give Joe a crazy idea, he loves it even more and takes it as a personal challenge to see what's possible (insert Amber's eyeroll face here).
So how are we going to do it?
Last year we raised just over $9k on this portion of the fundraiser.

This is a new feature for 2026. We're creating a second (and separate) HSH calendar called the HSH community calendar. The days in this calendar are available for "bumpsale" purchase to place messages and promotions (personal and business). The first buyer pays $1, the second pays $2, and so on, all the way to $365 (the final sale). If we sell all the days, that means $66,795 total raised, just with the community calendar!

This year we're creating three calendars to sell for fundraising efforts—the regular/main HSH calendar like we did for 2025, the new HSH community calendar (mentioned above), and an art calendar, a higher end, sleeker calendar focused on the photography of the winners. The proceeds of all three calendars will go to HSH.
In the intel we have from other photographers, calendar sales are supposed to be nominal and not a big portion of fundraising efforts, but we were able to sell a decent amount, so this year, we're doubling down here and adding more options to the mix to see if we can do even better.
